This is the last Will and Testament
of me Isaac Parker of the parish of Lanbaddock in the County of
Monmouth, farmer. I hereby release my
son Isaac from a certain debt or balance of two hundred and forty three
pounds thirteen shillings and seven pence due and owing from him to me and from
all the other debts and demands due to me from him – by virtue of every power
in me vested I hereby limit and appoint and also give and devise unto and to
the use of Alexander Waddington of Usk in the said County, Gentleman his
heirs and assigns for ever all that my freehold messuage or dwelling house,
garden, orchard, malthouse, hereditaments and premises with the appurtenances
situate in or near Church Street in the said town of Usk and now in the
occupation of my said son Isaac as tenant thereof upon the trusts
nevertheless following (that is to say) upon trust out of the rents, issues and
profits of the said premises to pay to my son Jacob during his life an
annuity or yearly sum of fifteen pounds of lawful English money clear of all
deductions except legacy duty by four even and equal quarterly payments on the
fifth day of April, the fifth day of July, the fifth day of October and the
fifth day of January in every year, the first quarterly payment of the said
annuity to be made on such of the said days as shall next happen after my
decease and from and immediately after the decease of my said son Jacob
upon trust that the said Alexander Waddington his heirs or assigns do
and shall by sale or mortgage of the whole or a competent part of my said
freehold hereditaments and premises levy and raise the sum of three hundred
pounds of lawful money aforesaid and stand possessed hereof for all and every
the children and child of my said son Jacob lawfully begotten or to be
begotten who shall live to attain the age of twenty one years in equal shares
if more than one and if there shall be but one such child then in trust for
such one or only child his or her executors administrators or assigns. And in case there shall be no such child of
my said son Jacob then in trust to stand possesses of the said sum of
three hundred pounds for all and every the children and child of my two sons Isaac
and Thomas lawfully begotten or to be begotten who shall live to attain
the age of twenty one years in equal shares if more than one and if there shall
be but one such child then in trust for such one or only child his or her
executors administrators or assigns and subject to the said annuity and trusts
for raising the said sum of three hundred pounds upon trust to pay all the
remainder of the rents and profits of the said hereditaments and premises to my
said son Isaac or permit him to receive the same during his life he my
said son Isaac keeping all the buildings in tenantable repair during his
life and immediately after his decease upon trust to pay the rents and profits
of the said premises subject as aforesaid to Ann wife of my said son Isaac
or permit her to receive the same during her life she the said Ann Parker
keeping all the buildings in tenantable repair during her life and immediately
after her decease upon trust to stand seized of all the said freehold
hereditaments and premises subject as aforesaid for all and every the children
and child of my said son Isaac lawfully begotten or to be begotten who
shall live to attain the age of twenty one years in equal shares and
proportions as tenants in common and not as joint tenants and their respective
heirs and assigns for ever and if there shall be but one such child then in
trust for such one or only child his or her heirs or assigns for ever and to
convey the same accordingly. I give and
bequeath to my grand daughter Sarah Mason the sum of sixty pounds on her
attaining the age of twenty one years with interest thereof at the rate of five
pounds per centum per annum in the mean time.
I give and bequeath to my housekeeper Mrs Nicholas the sum of
forty pounds to be paid her at the expiration of six months after my
decease. I give devise and bequeath all
that my cottage and garden with the appurtenances situate in the said parish of
Lanbaddock in the said County and also my live and dead farming stock, growing
crops, implements of husbandry, household furniture, brewing, kitchen and dairy
utensils and all the rest, residue and remainder of my personal estate and
effects of what nature or kind soever not hereinbefore bequeathed or disposed
of) and of which I may happen to die possessed, interested in or in any wise
entitled to after payment of my just debts and funeral and testamentary
expences unto the said Alexander Waddington his heirs, executors,
administrators and assigns according to the respective nature and quality
thereof upon trust nevertheless as soon as conveniently may be after my decease
to sell and dispose of and convert the whole into money and to stand possessed
of the produce arising there from after deducting all reasonable expences of
sale in trust for my four sons Isaac, Thomas, Jacob and John
in equal shares and proportions as tenants in common and at the expiration of
twelve months after my decease to pay the same accordingly. I hereby appoint the said Alexander
Waddington sole executor of this my will and do declare that it shall be
lawful for him by and out of any monies which shall come to his hands by virtue
of this my will to retain and reimburse himself all such reasonable costs,
charges and expences as he shall incur in or about the execution of the trusts
hereby reposed in him, and I further declare that the said Alexander Waddington
shall be chargeable with such monies and effects only as he shall actually
receive and shall not be answerable or accountable for any loss or damage which
shall happen in the execution of the trusts hereby reposed in him except the
same shall happen through his wilful neglect or default. And I lastly declare that the receipt or
receipts in writing of the said Alexander Waddington his heirs or
assigns shall be a sufficient discharge and discharges to the purchaser or
mortgagee of the hereditaments and premises hereby directed to be sold or mortgaged
for the money therein expressed to be received and that such purchaser or
mortgagee shall not be expected or required to see to the application of such
money or any part thereof. I revoke all
former wills heretofore made. In
witness whereof I have to this my last will and testament contained in three
sheets of paper to the two first sheets thereof set my hand and to this third
and last sheet thereof my hand and seal this ninth day of January in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty six. Isaac Parker.

Waddington the sole executor named in this Will was duly sworn as such and
that the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased are under the value of
one thousand and five hundred pounds.

personally Alexander Waddington of the Town of Usk in the County of
Monmouth, Gentleman, the sole executor named in the last Will and Testament of
the said Isaac Parker late of the parish of the parish of Lanbaddock in the County aforesaid, farmer
deceased, who died on the twenty second day of
January last and made Oath that the Estate and Effects of the said
deceased, for and in respect of which, a probate of the said Will is to be
granted, exclusive of what the said deceased may have been possessed of or
entitled to as a Trustee for any other person or persons, and not beneficially,
and without deducting any thing on account of the Debts due and owing from the
said deceased, are under the Value of
one thousand and five hundred pounds, to the best of this Deponent’s
knowledge, information, and belief.
And he lastly made Oath that the said deceased did not die possessed of
any Leasehold Estate or Estates for years, either absolute or determinable, on
a life or lives to the best of this Deponent’s knowledge, information and
