Charles Hopkins of Dingestow.

Know all men by these presents that we James Evans of the parish of Dingestow in the County of Monmouth, yeoman and John Thomas of the parish of Langanttock Vibon Avel, in the County aforesaid, clockmaker and Thomas Nicholas of the Town of Newport in the County aforesaid, glazier are held firmly bound unto the Right Reverend Father in God Shute by Divine permission Lord Bishop of Landaff in the sum of two hundred pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britain to be paid unto the said Lord Bishop or to his certain Attorney his executors administrators or assigns To which payment well and truly to be made we oblige ourselves and each of us by himself --? for the whole our and each and every of our heirs executors and administrators firmly by these presents sealed with our seals Dated the twenty sixth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy seven

The Condition of this Obligation is such that if the above bounden James Evans the grandson and sole executor named in the last will and testament of James Hopkins (whilst still living) the son and sole executor named in the last will and testament of Charles Hopkins late of the parish of Dingestow in the County of Monmouth and Diocese of Landaff deceased and administrator (with the said will annexed) of all and singular the goods chattles and credits of the said Charles Hopkins deceased do make or cause to be made a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased which have or shall come to the hands possession or knowledge of him the said Charles Hopkins or into the hands and possession of any person or persons for him and the same so made to exhibit or cause to be exhibited into the registry of the Consistory Court of Landaff at or before the last day of May next ensuing and the same goods chattels and credits and all other goods chattels and credits of the said deceased at the time of his death which at any time after shall come to the hands or possession of the said deceased or into the hands and possession of any other person or persons for him do well and truly administer according to law. And further do make or cause to be made a true and just Accompt of him said administrator when lawfully required. And all the rest and residue of the said goods chattles and credits which will be found remaining upon his said accompt and not otherwise disposed of in the said will examined and allowed by the Judge of the said Court for the time being shall distribute and dispose in such manner and form as shall be limited by the discretion of the said Judge. And lastly do at altimes hereafter clearly aquit discharge and save harmless the above named reverend Father the said Judge and all other his officers of the said Court against all persons having or pretending to have any right title or interest unto the goods chattles and credits of the said deceased then this obligation to be void and of no effect or else to remain in full force and vitue.
