Aaron Harris of Mamhilad.

This is the last will and testament of me Aaron Harris of the parish of Mamhilad in the County of Monmouth Gentleman. I give and devise to my nephew Noah Morris Harris his heirs and assigns and which said Noah Moses Harris now resides in North America and is the son of my late brother John Harris late of the Town of Pontypool in the County of Monmouth tailor deceased all that messuage or dwelling house now in my own occupation with the stable beasthouse orchard and garden and appurtenances thereto belonging situate in the parish of Mamhilad aforesaid. And also all that barn with the stable beasthouse and seven pieces or parcels of arable meadow and pasture land call and known by the general name of The Bryn farm situate in the parish of Mamhilad aforesaid now in the occupation of John Tippins and containing about fourteen acres. And also all that cottage and barn together with thirteen pieces of arable meadow and pasture land situate in the said parish of Mamhilad aforesaid in the occupation of William Morgan containing in the whole about twenty four acres and commonly called or known by the name of The Lan farm. If the said Noah Morris Harris shall die in my lifetime I give and devise the messuages farms and lands above mentioned to my nephew Aaron Harris of Penyrhoel Vedw in the parish of Trevethin the County of Monmouth farmer his heirs and assigns and if the said Aaron Harris shall also die in my lifetime I give and devise the same messuages farms and lands to Margaret Harris the daughter of William Harris late of Penyrhoel Vedw aforesaid farmer deceased her heirs and assigns and I charge the said messuages farms and lands with the payment within twelve months after my decease of the sum of fifty pounds to Margaret Griffiths the wife of John Griffiths of the town of Pontypool aforesaid widow. I give and devise unto my friend Henry Morgan of Mamhilad House in the parish of Mamhilad aforesaid farmer and to my said nephew Aaron Harris and their heirs and who are hereinafter referred to as my said trustees all that barn called Skiber Vach with the two pieces of land thereto belonging situate in the parish of Mamhilad aforesaid in the several occupations of the representatives of Mr William Morgan and the said John Tippins upon the trusts following that is to say upon trust until my grandson William Harris Lewis the son of my deceased daughter Harriet formerly the wife of William Lewis of the parish of Goytrey in the County of Monmouth farmer shall attain the age of twenty one to pay the clear annual rents and profits of the said barn and lands unto such person as to my said trustees shall seem proper to be laid out for and towards the maintenance and education of the said William Harris Lewis and upon further trust when and if the said William Harris Lewis shall attain the age of twenty one years to convey the same barn and lands to him and his heirs absolutely, and if the said William Harris Lewis shall die under the age of twenty one years then I direct my said trustees to convey the said barn and lands to my said nephew Aaron Harris his heirs and assigns. I give and devise to my said nephew Aaron Harris and his heirs all that my one equal undivided third part of and in a copyhold messuage barn beasthouse and two pieces or parcels of land containing about four acres with the appurtenances thereto belonging known by the general name of Wain Vellow situate in the parish of Trevethin aforesaid and now in the occupation of Mary Harries. And also all the residue of my real estate if any I give and bequeath all my household furniture money and securities for money and all my personal estate to the said Henry Morgan and my said nephew Aaron Harris their executors and administrators hereinafter also referred to as my said trustees upon trust to convert into money such part of my said personal estate as shall not consist of money and place out the sum of forty five pound upon either real personal or other security as to them shall seem proper and to pay the interest and annual produce thereof to such person as they shall think proper to be applied for and towards the maintenance and education of my granddaughter Sarah Ann Lewis daughter of my said deceased daughter Harriet Lewis until the said Sarah Ann Lewis shall attain the age of twenty one years and when and if the said Sarah Ann Lewis shall attain the age of twenty one years to pay the said sum of forty five pounds and if the said Sarah Ann Lewis shall die under the age of twenty one years then I direct my said trustees to pay to the parent guardian or other person having the care of the said Sarah Ann Lewis the sum of ten pounds part of the said sum of forty five pounds in and towards defraying the expenses attending the illness death and funeral of the said Sarah Ann Lewis and to apply the interest of thirty five pounds the remainder of the said sum of forty five pounds in and towards the maintenance and education of the said William Harris Lewis if he shall survive the said Sarah Ann Lewis in the same way as is thereinafter directed with regard to the interest of the said sum of forty five pounds and if and when the said William Harris Lewis shall attain the age of twenty one years to pay him the said sum of thirty five pounds and in case the said William Harris Lewis shall survive the said Sarah Ann Lewis and die under the age of twenty one years I direct my said trustees to pay to the parent guardian or person having the care of the said William Harris Lewis the sum of ten pounds in and towards defraying the expenses of the illness death and funeral of the said William Harris Lewis and after the several deaths of the said Sarah Ann Lewis and William Harris Lewis under the respective ages ---? to pay the sum of twenty five pounds the remainder of the said sum of forty five pounds to my said nephew Aaron Harris absolutely. I bequeath the following legacies namely to Ann the wife of James Rogers of the Three Cranes Inn, Pontypool, victualler the sum of five pounds to Mary Harris the wife of Wyndham Thomas of Pontypool aforesaid mason the sum of five pounds to the said Margaret Harris the daughter of the said William Harris deceased a bed bolster and pillow two blankets and a quilt to be chosen by her out of my furniture and my clock and also the sum of ten pounds, to my servant Francis Hurdle the sum of five pounds to my said trustee and executor Henry Morgan the sum of eight pounds to Elizabeth Davies daughter of David Davies late of the Three Cranes, Pontypool aforesaid the sum of ten pounds to Isaac Davies the brother the sum of seven pounds to David Davies her other brother the sum of ten pounds and I bequeath to the said Elizabeth, Isaac and David the residue of my personal property I empower my said trustees to expand any sum nor exceeding five pounds in and towards the expense of taking care of my dwelling house until my nephew shall arrive from America to take possession of it. I direct that the above mentioned legacies shall be payable in twelve calender months after my decease or as to the legates who may then be infants shall bear interest at four per cent from that time and that the receipt and receipts in writing of my said trustees and of any other person to whom money shall be paid in pursuance of the direction in this my will for any sum or sums of money payable to him her or them under the trusts of this my will and as to married women notwithstanding coverture shall effectually discharge the person or persons paying the same from all obligation of owing to the application and all liability for the misapplication or nonapplication thereof I give and devise to my said trustees and their heirs all estates vested in me in trust or by way of mortgage to be held by them upon the same trusts and subject to the same equity of redemption as now affect the same. And I hereby appoint the said Henry Morgan and my said nephew Aaron Harris to be trustees and executors of this my will. And I empower my said trustees and executors to compound or allow time or accept security value personal for the payment of debts owing to my estate and adjust by arbitration or otherwise disputes in relation thereto or in relation to debts or demands owing by me or demand as due from my estate and hereby revoking all other wills by me heretofore made I hereby declare this to be my last will. In witness whereof I have to each of the sheets of this my will contained on four sheets of paper set my hand this twenty fourth day of August one thousand eight hundred and fifty three.
