In the name of God Amen, January the thirtieth Anno Domini 1713-14 I Charles Gwyn of the Town of Monmouth and County of Monmouth Gentleman being sick in body but of perfect sence and memory praised be God do make and ordain this my last will and testament revoking and making void all other wills by me formerly made in manner and form following. First I commend my soul into the hands of the Almighty God my maker hoping through the merrits and passion of his son Jesus Christ to receive everlasting life. Item I comend my body to be buried in a Christian like manner according to the discretion of my executors hereafter herein named. Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my well beloved wife Sophia Gwyn my gold watch. Item I give and devise unto her for the term of her natural life only all that little meadow by me purchased of my cousen Howell Gwyn called by the name of Sennes meadow lying and being in the County of Brecon. Item I give bequeath and devise unto my said wife during her natural life all that little farm there also by me purchased called by the name of Blaintraveren. Item I give unto my daughter Anne the sum of three hundred pounds to be paid her when she attains to the age of eighteen years or when she shall be married or which shall first happen. Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary the sum of five hundred pounds to be paid her when she attains to the age of eighteen years or when she shall be married or which shall first happen. Item I give and bequeath unto my servant maid Elizabeth James the sum of tenn shillings. Item I give bequeath and devise unto my son James Gwyn all the rest of my real and personal estates. Item I do hereby nominate and appoint my very well beloved friends Walter Roberts of Rosse in the County of Hereford, Gentleman, Adam Adams of the Town of Monmouth, Gentleman and Thomas Belcher of the said Town of Monmouth the younger, Gentleman. And I do hereby nominate and appoint George Morgan of the said Town of Monmouth and County aforesaid, Gentleman to be trustee of this my last will and testament revoking and making void all other wills and testaments formerly by me made. NOTE: Here there is a note written in a tiny hand almost unreadable on this very poor photocopy but I can make out .. of Charles Gwyn late of the Town of Monmouth in the County of Monmouth administer the goods chattels and credits of the said decd according to the tenor of the said will (for that Walter Roberts, Adam Adams and Thomas Belcher the exects therein named the execution thereof) being first sworn duly to administer (Letters of Admon with said Will annexed) of the of the said deced October 1715 to Sophia Gwyn widow, the mother and executrix lawfully assigned to the said James Gwyn his use and benefit and during his minority being ceased and expired by reason of his having attained the full age of one and twenty years. (Latin - Summary) 25 October 1715 commissioned Sophia Gwyn natural mother & guardian of Jacob (James) Gwyn, a minor, natural & legitimate son of the testator named in the testament of Charles Gwyn late of Monmouth in the County of Monmouth, to administer for the said minor until he reaches the age of twenty one years.
