In the name of God Amen I Philip Evans of the parish of Langwm in the County of Monmouth, yeoman, being of perfect mind, memory & understanding thanks be given to Almighty God; but at the same time considering the uncertainty of this transitory life, do think it necessary to make & ordain this my last will & testament in manner & form following, that is to say, principally & first of all I do resign my soul to the mercies of God in Christ Jesus & my body to be buried in a decent Christian manner at the discretion of my executor herein after named. And as to such worldly goods & effects as it hath pleased God to bless me with I give & bequeath the same in the following manner & form. Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Margaret Jones of Altavilla and her heirs the sum of one hundred pounds to be paid her by my executor at the end of one whole year after my decease. All the rest, residue and remainder of my worldly goods and effects, houses, lands, money and whatsoever else to me appertaining and not herein before bequeathed, I give and bequeath the same unto my son Philip Evans and I do hereby nominate and appoint my said son Philip Evans only and sole executor of this last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me heretofore made. Phillip Evans, the son of the decd & sole executor in this will named was sworn to the truth thereof & to the faithfull performance of the same & that the goods, chattles & credits of the deceased do not amount in value to the sum of three hundred pounds, before me Thos Price, Surrogate
This will was proved at Landaff on the twenty sixth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & ninety two before the Revd Thomas Price, Clerk, the Chancellors Surrogate, by Phillip Evans the son of the decd & sole executor in this will was first on the holy Evangelists personally sworn well & faithfully to execute the same, to exhibit an inventory & to render a just account of his administration thereof when thereunto lafully required.
