In the name of God Amen I Edmond
Lewis of the parish of Nash in the County of Monmouth & Diocess of
Landaff farmer being in perfect health mind & memory thanks be given to God
do make & ordain this my last Will & Testament in manner & form
following viz:
First I give & commend my soul
into the hands of Almi’ty God who gave it & my body to be buried in a
Christian manner at the discretion of my exicutrix hereafter named and as
touching such worldly goods which it hath pleased God to bless me with in this
life I give bequeath & dispose of as followeth.
First I give & bequeath to my
beloved wife Mary all my goods chattles & cattle of all discriptions
during her natural life and after her death one moity or half part to be
equally divided between the children of my late brother Thomas Lewis and
the children of my late sister Elizabeth, and the children of my late
sister Mary and one other moitey or half part to be equally divided
between the next of kin to my beloved wife Mary.I also apoint and orain
my beloved wife Mary to be exicutrix of this my last Will &
Testament during her life and after her death I do appoint & ordain Moses
Morgan and Samuel Morgan of the parish of Nash my exicutors in trust
to sell & dispose of all my said goods chattles & cattle of all
descriptions after the death of my said wife Mary and divide the produce
as above ordained. In witness hereof I
have hereunto set my hand & seal this 4?th day of July 1811. The mark of Edmond (X) Lewis.

Personally Mary Lewis of the parish of Lanishen in the County of Glamorgan, widow the sole Executrix named in the last Will and
Testament of the said Edmond Lewis
formerly of the parish of Nash but late of the parish of Lanmartin in the County of Monmouth, farmer
deceased, who died n the month of July last and made Oath that the Estate and
Effects of the said deceased, for and in respect of which a Probate of the said
Will is to be granted, exclusive of what the said deceased may have been
possessed of or entitled to as a Trustee for any other Person or Persons, and
not beneficially, and without deducting any thing on account of the Debts due
and owing from the said deceased, are under the value of sixty Pounds, to the
best of this Deponent’s knowledge,
information, and belief. And lastly
made Oath that the said deceased did not die possessed of any Leasehold Estate
or Estates for years, either absolute or determinable, on a life or lives to
the best of this Deponent’s knowledge, information and belief. The mark of Mary (X) Lewis

Right Reverend Father in God William by divine permission Lord Bishop of
Llandaff lawfully constituted. To our
beloved in Christ the Reverend Reverend Benjamin Jones and the Reverend Thomas
Lewis, Clerks in the County of Glamorgan and Diocese of Llandaff Greeting. Whereas Edmond Lewis late of the
parish of Nash in the County of Monmouth and Diocese aforesaid deceased did
make his last Will and Testament in writing (hereunto annexed) and did therein
name his wife Mary Lewis sole executrix and afterwards died. We do therefore hereby empower you jointly
and severally to swear the said Mary Lewis to the truth of the affidavit
hereunto annexed as well as to the truth of the said Will as of the faithful
performance thereof and to make a true inventory of all and singular the goods
chattels and credits of the said deceased and to render a just and true account
and to exhibit the same into the Registry of the Consistory Court of
Llandaff. And you are hereby enjoyned
further to do in the premises as shall be needful and that such oath being
administered you duly transmit to us our Surrogate this Commission and all your
proceedings thereon subscribed with the proper hand writing of one or more of
you on or before the last day of January next ensuing provided nevertheless
that this Commission shall be of no effect unless so transmitted before the
said time. Dated at Llandaff the eighth
day of November one thousand eight hundred and twenty five.

November 1825. Let Probate pass the
seal. Thos Lewis, Surrogate.
The form of the oath to the
executrix the said Mary Lewis laying her right hand on the Holy
Evangelists “Your Oath is that the paper writing hereunto annexed contains the
true last Will and Testament of the above named Edmond Lewis deceased as
far as you know or believe. And that
you will truly perform the same first by paying his debts and then the legacies
therein contained so far as h goods chattels and credits will thereto extend
and the law charge. And that you will
make a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the said goods chattels
and credits and exhibit the same into the Registry of the Consistory Court of
Llandaff at the time assigned you by the said Court. And also render a just account thereof when lawfully
required. That the goods chattels and
credits of the said deceased do not amount in value to the sum of [BLANK]
And that the
contents of the affidavit hereunto annexed to which you have subscribed your
name were and are true” So help you God”
This Commission was duly executed
and the said Mary Lewis sworn to the truth of the above Oath this
twelfth day of November 1825 before me Benjamin Jones, Clk, Commissioner
