Morris Dixton of Llantilio Pertholey 1694.

In the name of God Amen the three and twentieth daye of Maye in the yeare of our Lord 1693 and in the fifth yeare of the raigne of our Soveraigne Lord and Lady William and Mary King and Queene over England &c I Moris Dixton of the parish of Lantillio Ptholey in the County of Monmoth carpenter beinge sick and weake in body but of a sound and perfecte memory thanks be given unto the Allmighty God for the same doe make my last will and testament in maner and forme followinge that is to saye first I comend my soule to the Allmighty God my Creator assuredly believing that I shall receave full pardon and remision of all my sinns and be saved by the precious death and meritts of my blessed saviour and redeemer Christ Jesus and my body to the earth to be buried in such decent maner as to my executrix hereafter named shall be thought fitt And as touching such worldly estate the Lord in mercy hath lent me my will and meaninge is the same shall be imployed and disposed as hereafter by this my will is expressed and first I doe revoke frustrat and make voyd all wills by me formerly made and declare and appoynt this my last will and testament. Item I give and devise all that my messuage lands and tenem’ts scytuate lyinge and beinge in Coed y Corrick in as large as ample maner as Morgan Price my tenant doeth now hold and enioye the same unto my well beloved wiffe Dorithe her heires and assignes toward the maintenance and education of my grand son James ap James the son of my daughter Elizabeth an infant of about fouer years of age and my will and meaninge is that if my sayd wiffe can maintaine the sayd infant without makinge sale of the sayd messuage lands and premisses that the sayd premisses shall remaine and continue unto Nicholas David my grandson the son of my daughter Margarett and to that end I doe give and devise the same. Item I give and bequeath and devise all that my messuage lands and tenem’ts which I did purchase of and from Thomas John Morgan unto me and my heires for ever scituate lyinge and beinge in the parishe of Lantillio Pertholley in the County of Monmoth aforesayd unto my sayd grandson James ap James to have and hold unto him and his heires forever and in case the sayd James shall happen to dye or decease without issue of his body then I give and devise the sayd messuage and lastly mentioned unto the sayd Nicholas David his heires and assignes forever after decease of the sayd Dorithie my wiffe. Item I give and bequeath and devise the messuage or dwellinge house with the appurtenances after the decease of Dorithie my sayd wiffe unto my daughter Mary. Item I give and bequeath all my moveables houshold stuff goods catle chattles and moveables and personall estate whatsoever unto Dorithie my sayd wiffe to use and enioye during the term of her naturall liffe provided that she continues a widow uppon my name sole and unmaryed or else I give and bequeath the same betweene the children of my sayd daughter Margarett and the sayd James ap James equally to be distributed and parted between. Item I doe nominat and appoynt Dorithie my sayd loveinge wiffe to be executrix of this my sayd will and testament. In wittnesse whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale ye day yeare and month first above written. Moris Dixton
