In the name of God Amen I Catherine
Jenkins of the parish of Langwm Isha in the County of Monmouth and Dioces
of Landaff being sick & weak in body but of a sound and perfect memory
thanks be given to God for the same calling to mind the mortality of my body,
and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain
this to be my last Will and Testament.
Principaly and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands
of God that gave it and for my body I recommend it to the earth to be buried in
Christian like manner at the discretion of my executor here after named,
nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again
by the mighty power of God, and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it
hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and disbose of the same
in manner and form following. I give
and bequeath to James the son of John Davies my nephew the sum of
ten pounds one silver cup and my best feather bed with all its appurtenances,
also one press and three chairs one round table and my biggest brass
cettle. I give and bequeath also to Thomas
Davies annother son of John Davies the sum of ten pounds one feather
bed with all its appurtenances one silver spoon and one small chest and one warming
pan. I give and bequeath also to John
the son of John Davies the sum of ten pounds one long chest a little
trunk and one brass cettle. I give and
bequeath also to William the son of John Davies the sum of
ten pounds one little trunk and one chest & one marment. I give & bequeath also to Jane Jones
my nice now in London one shilling. I
give and bequeath to Michael Smith my nephew one shilling. My will and meaning is that the money and
the above legaces is to be paid by my executor when the sons of John Davies
come to the age of one & twenty years and not before. And I do nominate & appoint Thomas
Davies my nephew to be sole executor of this my last Will & Testament
& I do hereby utterly disallow, revoke & disanul every other former
Testament will & legaces executors by me in any ways before this time named
willed and bequeathed ratifying & confirming this and no other to be my
last will and Testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal
this 6th day of Nov’br in the year of our Lord 1764. Catherine Jenkins

and sole executor in this Will named was sworn well and faithfully to execute
the same, to exhibite an inventory &c and to render an account &c before me Nath’l Wells, Surrogate.
This Will was
proved at Landaff on the twenty ninth day of December in the year of our Lord
1764 before the Reverend Mr Nathaniel Wells, Clerk, Master of Arts, the
Chancellor’s Surrogate by Thomas Davies the nephew and sole
executor in this Will named who was first on the holy Evangelists personally
sworn well and faithfully to execute the same, to exhibite an inventory &c,
and to render a just account of his administration thereof when thereunto
lawfully required.
