Carl Nicholai Mølgaard was born in Gjøl, Denmark on September 25,
Jens Madsen Mølgaard and Olivia (Nickolaisen)
Mølgaard. He arrived in the United States in March 1913 at the age of 17. He had one brother
who also came to the U.S., Marinus Kristian Madsen
Mølgaard, who lived in
Ruthton, Minnesota; Racine, Wisconsin; Madison, Wisconsin; and passed away in Florida in 1968.
(Dagmar) Hanson was born in Marble Township, Lincoln County, Minnesota on December 10, 1893, to
Jonas Hanson and Trine (Nelson) Hanson, both of Denmark. Her father died before she was born, and her mother remarried Hans Jacob
Jensen when she was about 2 years old. Trine and Hans had five more children: Albert, Aksel, Harry, Sophy and Nat.
After Carl and Dora's marriage on October 18, 1919, in Ivanhoe, Minnesota, they moved to Alta, Iowa, where they farmed for a few years. Between 1923 and 1925, they moved to Wisconsin, finally settling in Kenosha, Wisconsin. They had nine children who lived to adulthood:
Daniel, Martha, Joseph,
Sarah, Esther, Philip,
Paul, Enoch, and
Dora Molgaard passed away in October 1971. Carl Molgaard died on February 13, 1978. They are buried
in Sunset Ridge Cemetery, Kenosha, Wisconsin.
