Will of Anderson Morton

In the name of God Amen I Anderson Morton of the County of Caswell and State of North Carolina, This 2nd day of April 1817 and calling to mind the imortanily of this world and being of Sound mind and memory do make and appoint This my last will and Testament. ___________________

Item – I give unto my wife Letty Morton all my estate both Real and personal if she should die without lawful heir it is my wish and desire for the Estate to Equally Divided between my Brother William Morton Children

Caswell County } July Court 1827

The execution of the Last will and Testament of Anderson Morton dec’d was duly proved in open Court by The Oath of Rowzee Samuel and Lewis Samuel the Two Subscribing ________, ________ and an motion ordered to be Recorded. And their being no Executor appointed thence it is being sworn to the satisfaction of the court that it is the wish of the widow that Doctor John Comer be appointed administrator on the Estate of the late Anderson Morton dec’d ____the will annexed – This Ordered by the Court that Doctor John Mcaden be appointed administrator on the Estate of the Said Anderson Morton dec’d with the will annexed, he having entered into bond with Doctor John Mcaden his surety in the sum of four hundred Dollars for his faithful performance ____ And it is furthr Ordered by the Court that the administrator aforesaid have leave to sell such part of the personal property as will discharge the Debt of the dec’d.

Will of Letty Morton

In the Name of God Amen I Letty Morton of the County of Caswell and State of North Carolina being of Sound mind and memory do make and Ordain this this my last will and Testament.

First I desire after discharge My Funeral Expenses that all my just and legal debts shall be paid.

Secondly that my dear brother Rowzee Samuel shall have my lot of land containing fifty acres more or less Adjoining David Montgomery Pleasant Chandler and Joseua Pawel lands

Also my stock of Horses, Cattle Sheep Hogs Household and Kitchen Furniture plantation Tools and all other property or claims whatsoever not herein mentioned the above property. I give and bequeath to said Rowzee Samuel his heirs and assigns forever.

Thirdly here by appoint my Friend John Comer My Executor to this my last will and testament.

I witness whereof I here unto affix my hand and seal this thirteenth of July in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and forty four.
