Quincy Florida March 12 1864

Dear Sister
I recieved your kind letter in due time. was glad to hear that you were all well and I hope this will find you all still enjoying the blessing of health. before this letter reaches you I expect to be on the way to our main army in east Florida as we are ordered away from [here]? I think we will leave monday morning next my command has been down there about a month but I was detailed here on Provost duty but that is now about to be broken up and I will have to report to my command. there are a good many yankees down there and I think there will be hot work down there this spring. I have been very fortunate since I have been in the army. I have spent over twelve months in the army and have never been in a fight and I have ginerally had an easy position. but there may be hard times for me yet in the future. I have no [more]? news to write this time everything seems to be quiet but it is about time for the spring campaign to open and we may look for some hard fighting within the next three months but I think that this spring and summer will close the war and god grant that it may. I long to see the time when I can return home in peace to my wife and children. I wrote to father some time ago. I hope it has reached him before this time. I have not heard from home since the 28th of last month my folks were all well then. I think I will get a letter from home today. I send you a couple of steel pens and some stamps pens are very hard to get and these are not [very / realy]? good ones direct your letters to this place until you hear from me again I will close for the present. my love to you all and the blessings of god be upon you

your affectionate Brother
