Information on Samantha Muse was taken from a published book called "Gone Home". This book contains compiled death dates, tombstone inscriptions and newspaper obituaries of Holt County, Missouri. The probate section of Holt County Courthouse had a copy and allowed us to transcribe information from it. Also information was removed from her tombstone in Fortescue, Missouri.

Doctor Joe J. Hompes. Study medicine at the University of Heidelberg, Germany. Emigrated to the United States in the 1800. Married Alma Chambers, Sister to Maranda Jane (Chambers) Muse. He was a fairly wealthy man and when he died he donated his estate to the State of Nebraska.

The 1880 census of Denton Texas names John as son, Elizabeth as daughter, Emely as daughter and William as son.
