regiment of Cavalry* on December 21,1861 at Cherokee Alabama for 1
year service.
The only record is that he was furloughed at Frankfort Alabama on
February 20,1862.

The name Thomas Higgins is listed on a roll datedOctober 27,1864 of
Prisoners of War at Nashville Tn. that were captured by General
Sherman. Having been captured on September 1,1864 at Jonesboro,
Georgia.
It notes his service as; Thomas Higgins, Private, Company "D", 3rd
C.S. Regiment Infantry. Received at Military Prison Louisville Ky,
on October 28,1864.Sent
to Camp Douglas Illinois on October 29,1864.
Name appears on list of prisoners applying for Oath of Allegiance at
Camp Douglas Ill., Dec 1864.Claims to have been loyal all along,
that he was conscripted in the rebel army. Deserted to avail himself
of the amnesty proclamation. Transferred March 25,1865 upon
enlisting in Company "E" 6th United States Volunteers.

Higgins, age 25, is listed Sept 14,1862 on muster in roll of Company "F"
(Capt James McDonell's Co.). States he was mustered in May 1,1862 at Tallequah C.N. (Creek Nation) and joined
for duty July 1,1862 at Franklin County, Arkansas for 1 year service.
Clarkson's Battalion, Independent Rangers Cavalry Volunteers (Note on this
unit: Four companies subsequently served in the 1st battalion Missouri Cavalry,1st Indian
Brigade. In Aug 1862,the remaining 5 companies were divided into 8 companies and in Nov 1862 were
dismounted and consolidated in four companies and assigned to Clark's regiment Missouri Infantry.)
4) J. Higgins - Second Confederate Infantry - Private,
Company "F". J. Higgins appears on an official list, written at Corinth 4/111862, of Killed,
Missing, Wounded from Battle of Shiloh Tn, April 6 & 7,1862. It is noted
that he has a severe leg wound.
5) J. L. Higgins - Tenth Confederate Cavalry - J.L. Higgins,
Private,Company "A" Tenth Confederate Cavalry enlisted March 10,1862 at Hickory Flat ,Alabama by
Capt.Rowland for 3 yrs service. Appears on muster roll Jan thru Apr & Jul thru Dec 1863. On a roll dated Jan
31,1864 it states he is absent on detail since Jan 27,1864 to drive cattle. Still on detail on April
roll. Present on company roll dated Jun 30,1864. Appears on Muster roll dated Apr 28,1865.Listed as
being paroled at Hillsborough N.C. May 3,1865. Appears on a list of sick transferred to St. Mary's
Hospital at Dalton Ga. Sept 6,1865. Disease noted is Debilitas (General weakness)
(Note on this unit: The 10th regiment Confederate Cavalry was formed by consolidation of the 19th
Battalion Georgia Cavalry and 5th Calvary Battalion Hilliard's Legion Alabama
Volunteers. Companies A thru E of the 5th Battalion Hilliard's Legion becoming

D.C. Nelson's Co, Lemuel G. Mead's Confederate Cavalry. Enlisted, for the war, Jan. 18,1864 at
Jackson County, Alabama. (Note on this unit: This company was also known as
Company "A", Mead's Cavalry C.S.A. It subsequently became Captain Nelson's Company 25th Battalion Alabama
Cavalry.

Enlisted, for war, at Ft. Morgan, Jan 28,1862. Present, on detail with Ordinance Dept, on company
roll for Mar & Apr 1862 in Company "B", . On roll of Company "I" Sept & Oct. 1863. Appears on discharge
dated Sept 28,1864. (Note on this unit: Composed principally of re-enlisted men of the 2nd Alabama Infantry and the
1st Confederate Infantry and a remnant of Harmen's Regiment of Tennessee Infantry.

Lt. Gen. R. Taylor C.S.A. on May 4,1865. Paroled at Meridian Miss. May 11,1865

Citronelle Ala. by Lt. Gen. R. Taylor C.S.A. on May 4,1865. Paroled at Meridian Miss. May 11,1865

C.S.A. Private. List residence as Memphis Tn. appears on list of Prisoners of War.
File states his Company was commanded by Lt. Col. R.H. Lindsay .They surrendered

13) Michael Higgins -Tucker's Regiment, Confederate Infantry
Sergeant, Company "K", Enlisted Jan 20,1865 at Salisbury. Appears on muster roll dated Feb 17,1865.
(Note on this unit: The 1st Foreign Battalion Confederate Infantry also known as 1st Confederate
infantry P.A.C.S*. It was raised by authority of war dept from the foreigners among the Federal
P.O.W.s. Soldier appears on hospital roll of C.S.A. General Hospital No. 11 at Charlotte N.C. for acute diarrhea.
Sent to another hospital same day. Soldier appears on hospital roll of Pettigrew General Hospital No. 13 at
Raleigh N.C.. Date of admittance for acute diarrhea was Feb 20, 1865., was returned to duty Mar 20,1865.

Lake,Collin County,Texas,November 1863 under an agreement made between them and the C.S. Authorities
on or about Oct 26,1863 for the purpose of organizing and entering Confederate service on the frontier of
Texas. Under notes is states Militia.

absent, having been wounded at battle of Chickamauga on Sept 20.
Listed on roll dated Dec 31, 1863 as present. Listed as Private on roll of prisoners of
war. Paroled at Selma Alabama May 29,1865.
