Somerville, Mass., in 1853; died at Melrose Highlands, Mass., Dec.
6, 1882.

Willis H Higgins World War II veteran
Willis H. Higgins, 74, of Savage Road, Milford, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, at the Boston Veterans
Medical Center in West Roxbury, Mass. He was born on Feb. 6,1926, in Hartford, Vt., the son
of David and Hazel (Foote) Higgins. He grew up in Hancock, and then moved to Claremont.
Mr. Higgins served his country during World War II with the U.S. Navy and was stationed in the Saudi
Pacific Theater, and also fought in the Battle of Lehti.
In his early years, he worked on the Boston Maine railroad. He was a short order cook at the Old Red
Roof Restaurant in Keene, and the Palmer Lodge in Keene. At the same time, he was a
short order cook, he was also a salesman for Fuller Brush. His family members include his wife of 46 years,
Lois (Couch) of Milford; two daughters, Salley Higgins-Brown of Keene and Cindy Provenchia of West
Swanzey; a brother, William H. Higgins of Portsmouth; a close family friend,
Lita Higgins; nine grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and
cousins.
An interment service was held Nov. 21 at the chapel at the N.H. Veteran�s Cemetery in Boscawen.
Contributions may be made in his memory to Disabled American Veterans, Department of N.H., 329 Mast Road,
Goffstown, NH 03045; or Catholic Charities of N.H., Inc., 215 Myrtle Street, Manchester, NH 03104.
Affordable Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., was in charge of the arrangements.

Ralph M. Higgins
NEWTON, N.H. -- Ralph M. "Barney" Higgins, 75, died
yesterday at home.
Born in Elgin, Ill., Mr. Higgins moved to Kittery,
Maine as a child and attended Saint Patrick's School
in Portsmouth, N. H.
He served in the Army during World War II, the Korean
War and the Vietnam War, retiring as a Staff Sgt. with
over 20 years of service. He received the World War II
Victory Medal, the Army of Occupation Medal, the
Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, the
Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the
Army Commendation Medal, and the National Defense
Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster.
Following his retirement from the service, Mr. Higgins
worked in campus security at Merrimack College in
North Andover.
He was a member of both the Carl Davis Post of the
American Legion of Plaistow and the AmVets Post #147
of Haverhill, Mass.
He leaves wife Ann M. (Dunlap) (Walsh) Higgins; son
Raymond Mitrano and his wife Donna of Epping;
daughters Joan L. Wright and her husband Willis of
Esperance, N.Y., Colleen Sullivan of Cross, S.C. and
Maureen Sullivan of Columbia, S.C.; five
grandchildren; five great-grandchildren: and several
nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton
Road, Exeter NH 03833.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours are tomorrow from 7 to 9
p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St.,
Route 121A, Plaistow. A funeral with military honors
is Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home followed by
burial in Plaistow Cemetery.
