"F" 1st (New) Alabama Cavalry. On Nov/Dec 1864 roll he is listed
absent sick. On Jan/Feb 1865 absent sick at Hospital at Memphis
Tennessee, States he has been sick since January 10, 1863. No
discharge given upon muster out. Still listed sick in U.S. General
Hospital on September 1865 roll.

James O. Higgins joined for duty and enrolled on October 25, 1863 at
Perry County, Arkansas. He was mustered in November 3, 1863 as a
Private in Company "C" 3rd Regiment Arkansas Mounted Volunteers* at
Little Rock Arkansas for 3 years service. On detached duty at
Lewisburg, Arkansas from February 17,1864 with rank of Corporal.
Absent sick at Perry County, Arkansas since February 15, 1865.
Discharged May 22, 1865 per instructions from War Department. His
final rank was Sergeant. There had been a conflict between the men
of this company and the officers pertaining to the length of
enlistment, 1 year or 3 years. The war Department agreed and allowed
them to all be mustered out on May 22, 1865.
Personal Information : Age 44 at enlistment, 5 ft 8 in tall. Dark
complexion, Blue eyes, Dark hair. Born Hemstead, Arkansas. By
occupation a Farmer.

subsequently became Company "C" 3rd Regiment Arkansas Cavalry.Civil War pension records show James O. Higgins
applied for an invalid's pension (Application # 1021567) on August 8,1890 for his service in Company "C" 3rd
Arkansas Cavalry.

at Perry County, Arkansas since December 18, 1864. Died of Small Pox
on February 24, 1865 at Perry County, Arkansas.

enlistment. 5 ft 10 in tall, Fair complexion, Blue eyes, Light hair.

Leander Hagans enlisted July 12,1863 at Springfield, Missouri. He
was 19 years old.He was mustered in on September 14, 1863 in Company
"F" 4th Arkansas Cavalry for 3 Years service. Sick in hospital on
September 28, 1863. Died October 2,1863 of congestive fever at the
General Hospital at Springfield, Missouri. He was buried October 3,
1863 in Grave # 478 at the Soldier's Cemetery at Springfield,
Missouri.
Personal Information: Born North Carolina, Farmer by occupation,
Hazel eyes, Dark hair, Dark complexion,5 ft 9 in Tall.
