Lucy Osgood, who was married to Rev. Moses Merrill, was a descendant of John Osgood, an early emigrant from England. Her descent from John is as follows:
- John Osgood was born on 23 July 1595 in the parish of Wherwell, Hampshire, England; he died on 24 October 1651 in Andover, Massachusetts. John was married to Sarah (Booth?) in England. He arrived in New England about 1638, first living in Ipswich, but then moved to Newbury where he lived until 1645 when he moved to Andover.
- Stephen Osgood was born about 1638 in Ipswich or Newbury and died of small pox on 15 January 1690/91. He was married to Mary Hooker on 24 October 1663.
- Hooker Osgood was born on 24 August 1668 in Andover, Massachusetts and died in Lancaster, Massachusetts on 29 June 1748. He was married to Dorothy Wood on 26 April 1692. Hooker was a sadler, held a license to sell liquor in Lancaster, and was involved in twn affairs.
- Joshua Osgood was born on 2 September 1694 and died on 31 January 1783. He was married to Ruth Divoll on 20 December 1722. Joshua was a farmer.
- William Osgood was born on 20 August 1732 in Barre, Massachusetts and died on 5 February 1801 in Cabot, Vermont. He was married to Hepsibath Dunton on 3 June 1756 in Barre, Massachusetts. Like his father William was a farmer.
- Amasa Osgood was born on 18 September 1771 in Barre, Massachusets and died on 1 July 1811 in Cabot. He was married to Sally Russell in January of 1798.
- Lucy Osgood was born on 28 October 1798 in Massachusetts and was married to Rev. Moses Merrill.
