There are several Mittge's who appear in records, for which a connection cannot be made to our family. They undoubtedly are connected, but at this point we don't know how.
First, found in the International Genealogical Index (IGI) at FamilySearch are the following:
- Mittge, Carl Friedrich - christened 1 Jan. 1811 in Prussia, Brandenburg, Berlin, Stadt Luisenstadt; parents: Carl Friedrich Mittge and Marie Luise Stuelpnagel.
- Mittge, Carl Gottlieb - christened 30 Jan. 1814 in Prussia, Brandenburg, Berlin, Stadt Luisenstadt; parents Carl Friedrich Mittge and Luise Stuelpnagel.
- Mittge, Caroline Auguste - christened 1 Feb. 1835 in Prussia, Brandenburg, Berlin, Stadt Charite Kirche; parents: Henrietta Mittge.
- Mittge, Caroline Auguste - christened 21 July 1837 in Prussia, Brandenburg, Berlin, Stadt Charite Kirche; parents Charlotte Henrietta Mittge.
- Mittge, Georg Max - christened 25 April 1875 in Prussia, Brandenburg, Berlin, Stadt Sankt Petri; parents: Wilhelm Alexander Mittge and Johanne Sophie Unberkannt.
- Mittge, Johann Friedrich - christened 24 Jan. 1813 in Prussia, Brandenburg, Berlin, Stadt Luisenstadt; parents Johann Friedrich Mittge and Luise Stuelpnagel.
- Mittge, Louise Auguste - christened 28 Oct. 1804 in Prussia, Brandenburg, Berlin, Stadt Luisenstadt; parents: Carl Friedrich Mittge and Marian Christine Stilpnagel.
- Mittge, Marie Amalie - married Hermann August Krumrey 1868 in Prussia, Brandenburg, Prenzlau, Sankt Sabinen.
- Mittge, Wilhelmine Auguste - christened 15 Dec. 1833 in Prussia, Brandenburg, Berlin, Sankt Georgen; parents: Maria Henriette Mittge.
Then, found in the 1861 census of the United Kingdom (England, Middlesex, st. George in the East, p. 132) is an entry for:
Charles Mittge, age 30, occupation "sugar baker", where born: Germany
married to Ann, aged 38, no occupation, where born: Middlesex, Whitechapel.
This Charles Mittge is not found in the 1851 or the 1871 U.K. census. He may be the same Charles Mittge who appears in the South Australian Polize Gazette of 1882, where is he listed under "unexecuted warrants" on May 2 (1882) in Adelaide for "Disobeying summons."
