Mitchell Family Genealogy
W.L. Mitchell, MD and G.E. Mitchell, DMD started the genealogical information included on this site in 1960. Since that time ancestral information has been gathered from many sources on nearly 100 Surnames of related families.
At present research continues on several family lines; however the main focus is on tracing the ancestry of a John Mitchell, born in Virginia about 1790. He moved to Chillicothe, Ohio sometime before 1812, as he served in the War of 1812 in Captain Henry Brush's Company. He was married to Rosanna Beard in 1817 and had seven known children.
John Mitchell's father could have been another John Mitchell, or a James Mitchell, both of whom lived in Chillicothe, Ohio during the same period. During World War II, our Grandfather John Edwin Porter Mitchell died and, in the ensuing disposal of his effects, valuable ancestral information, including old family records and photographs was lost.
We hope to exchange information with anyone who has any interest in the Surnames included in these records. We especially want to hear from anyone who might have any information on our Mitchells.
