Larimer Mitchell, His Great Grandfather
Philip Lewis Martin of Bridgeport, West Virginia, traces his genealogy back to Larimer Mitchell, a policeman and member of the Union Infantry. The below chart shows Philip's maternal ancestry back through his mother's line to Larimer Mitchell, 1832-1908.

Larimer Mitchell and his wife, Rachel (Kuhn) Mitchell, had six children. Five were daughters and there was one son. Larimer served as a policeman and enlisted in the Union Army on August 18, 1864, Company I, 5th H.A., and was mustered out in June, 1865.
