Mystery Photo
Contributed by Katrina M. Piper Katrina Piper tells us that the photo on this page "was offered by a couple on a message forum in January, 2000. They offered it to the first Mitchell to respond, and I was the lucky one. However, after four years, I have been unsuccessful in finding the two names mentioned on the back. "In light pencil is an entry that appears to be that of the photographer: 'Mrs. R. M. Emery #1197 2/4 & 1567 - Beneath that the words White Mat.' "Then there are two lines in pen: Catherine Mitchell first left front row, Clara Butler first left rear row friend of Catherine. "No one else in the photo is identified, and there is nothing else written front or back. The photo appears to have been a frame at one time, and is mounted on sturdy matting. If it was white at one time, age has changed that."
