Obituary for Edna Zurschmit

Edna Ann Zurschmit VIRGINIA BEACH - Edna Ann Zurschmit, 69, died peacefully April 11, 2008, at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital with her loving husband, family and friends by her side. She was born in Encino, N.M., and was the daughter of the late Vera and John King. Her brothers Jackie, John Jr., Maxie and sister Johnnie Faye will be traveling East to say goodbye to their sister. She is survived by her beloved husband of 49 years, Franklin E. Zurschmit, U.S. Navy retired; five children, Frank and his wife Rita, Bob and his wife Margaret, Tim, Sue and Amy and her husband Danny. She was dearly loved and adored by her 13 grandchildren, John, Emily, Betsy, Abby, Wesley, Grace, Emma, Amberly, Sydney, Shelby, Georgia, Charlotte and Christina. Edna was a dedicated Navy wife and a beacon of light for those she knew. Her greatest joy came from showering her grandchildren with love, patience and guidance. She was a devoted member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church for more than 25 years and actively worked as a member of the staff for 22 years. Her generosity and strength will be missed by the whole community. Edna was an organ donor with LifeNet. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at the CSICU and especially Dr. Anna Drzewiecki and Dr. Miguel Rosa for their guidance and support. A memorial Mass will be held at 7 p.m. today in St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Kings Grant. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, is handling arrangements.
