Jerry Paul Helms son of William Thomas Helms and Sallie Pearson Underwood was born 25 March 1929 in Scurry County, Texas and died 18 January 2000 in Abilene, Taylor County, Texas. He married Patsy Jean Edwards daughter of S.E. Edwards and Jewel Coppedge 27 Mar 1951 in Belton, Bell County, Texas. She was born 21 March 1932 in Rotan, Fisher County, Texas and died 20 July 2004 in Abilene, Taylor County, Texas. They are both buried at Cottonwood Flat Cemetery, Scurry County, Texas.

OBITUARY: JERRY PAUL HELMS

Jerry Paul Helms, 70, of Rotan, died Tuesday, January 18, 2000 in an Abilene Hospital. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 20, in the Weathersbee Funeral Home Chapel. Larry Holder officiated. Burial was in Cottonwood Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee Funeral Home.

Mr. Helms was born March 25, 1929 in Scurry County to the late Mr. and Mrs. William Thomas Helms. He married Patsy Edwards in Belton County in 1951. Mr. Helms was a member of the Rotan V.F.W. and was a Baptist. He worked as an Iron Ore Miner at Kiser Steel and served in the US Army.
Survivors include his wife Patsy Helms of Rotan, one daughter Rita Pruitt of California, one son, Randy Helms of Rotan; one brother Dell Ray Helms of Rotan; four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

Patsy J. Helms, 72, died Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at an Abilene hospital. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 23, 2004, at Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.

Born March 21, 1932 in Rotan, TX, Patsy was the daughter of the late S.E. and Jewel (Coppedge) Edwards. She married Jerry Paul Helms on March 27, 1951 in Belton Co. Patsy grew up in Fisher Co; after she and Jerry Paul married they moved to Eagle Mountain, CA where they raised their family; in 1978 they moved back to Fisher County. Patsy was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and upholstering. She attended Calvary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Paul, parents one brother, and one sister.

Survivors include one son, Randy Helms of Rotan; one daughter Rita Pruitt of Blythe, CA; two brothers, Stanley Edwards of El Paso and Sammy Edwards of Del Hi, LA; one sister, Billie Nichols of Aspermont; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
