Hobart Lee Rouse son of Rebecca "Beck" Caroline DeBusk and Everett Emmet Rouse was born 10 Dec 1898 in Rose Hill, Lee County, Virginia and died 08 Feb 1985 in Rossville Balley Manor, Shawnee County, Kansas.  He married Mabellee Nora Griffiths daughter of Robert Newton Griffiths and Dona Alice Johnson Dona Alice Johnson in 07 Jun 1925 in Topeka, Shawnee County, Kansas. She was born 09 Sep 1906 in Shawnee, Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma and died 02 Aug 1974 in Topeka, Shawnee County, Kansas. They are both buried at Valencia Cemetery West of Topeka, Shawnee County, Kansas.

Obituary of Hobart Lee Rouse

Hobart Lee Rouse, 87 died early Saturday morning February 9, 1985, at the Rossville Balley Manor.

Hobart was born December 10, 1898 in Rose Hill, Lee County, Virginia, the son of Emmet and Rebecca Rouse. He lived on a farm with his parents until they came to Kansas by train in 1902. In 1904, they moved back to the farm in Lee County, Virginia in 1908. They decided to establish their home in Kansas. They lived in the Netawaka and Powhattan areas from 1908 to 1919. They lived in the Bancroft and Circleville areas from 1919 to 1924. During this time he met Mabellee Noral Griffitys. They married June 7, 1925. Hobart and Mabel lived in the Circleville and Holton Communities from 1925 to 1973. They moved to Hoyt in 1973. Mabel died August 2, 1973. Hobart lived in Hoyt until he became a resident of the Rossville Valley Manor in August 1980.

Hobart is survived by his son, Henry Lee Rouse and daughter, Wilma Jean Olson a daughter in Law Bonnie Rouse; a son in law Earl D. Olson, four grandsons. David Lee Rouse, Dennis Lane Rouse, Daniel Lynn Rouse, Conrad Leon Olson a grandaughter in law Rebecca Rouse; tow brothers Sam Rouse and John Rouse a sister Hazel Rouse. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister, Bonnie and a sister Grace.

He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad until 1922. He started farming until 1928 then worked for the Jackson County Township and back to farming until 1947. He then worked for the Jackson County road maintenance. He drove a road grader, until he retired at the age of 67.

Funeral services were held at 10 am Tuesday February 11, from the Mercer Funeral Home with the Reverend Duane Kessler officiating.

Obituary of Mabellee Nora Griffiths

Mabelle Nora Rouse, 67 years of age passed away Friday afternoon, August 2, 1973, in a Topeka hospital. She was born the second child to Robert and Dona Griffiths, September 9, 1906, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers and one sister. Surviving brothers and sisters are Ruth Armstrong, Circleville, Nettie Weigel, Topeka, Gilbert Griffiths, Baldwin Park, California, William H. Griffiths, Topeka, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends. Mable lived most of her childhood years in Oklahoma and later in the Topeka and Corning Communities. June 7 1925, Mabelle Nora Griffith and Hobart Lee Rouse were united in marriage. They resided forty-eight years in the Circleville and Holton Communities. Last September they moved to Hoyt Community. To this marriage was born a daughter, Wilma Jean Olson, Hoyt and a son Henry Lee Rouse, Topeka. Also surviving her are four grandsons, David Lee Rouse, Dennis Lane Rouse, Daniel Lynn Rouse and Conrad Leon Olson; a son in law, Earl Dee Olson and a daughter in law Bonnie Marie Rouse.

Mable was a member of the Circleville Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Banner Grange. She was a dedicated employee of the Holton Garment Factory for twenty one years and she retired during July 1972. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.

Those who knew her well will cherish fond memories of her bountiful gardens and her beautiful flowers. These were her two favorite hobbies. Mable was a woman who didnt share her personal agonies with her fellowmen, but whenever possible she was always by their side sharing their burdens. Her honest concern and her loving kindness for her family and friends will always be remembered. Mable will be deeply and greatly missed by her husband and her family. She was truly a devoted wife and a loving mother and grandmother.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 am Monday at the Mercer Funeral Home August 5, with the Reverand Paul Davis officiating. Burial was in the Balencia Cemetery west of Topeka.
