Wallace L. White
Wallace L. White, 81, of Slaton
passed from
this life Monday, Feb. 5, 2007.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m.,
Thursday,
Feb. 8, 2007 in Englunds Chapel
with interment
in Englewood Cemetery. Arrangements
are under
the direction of Englunds Funeral
Service
in Slaton.
Wallace was born Dec. 30, 1925 in Arkansas
City, Cowley County, Kansas. He graduated
from Arkansas City High School and attended
college at Ark City Community College. He
moved to Slaton in 1946. He went to work
for the Santa Fe Railroad in 1945 in Arkansas
City, Kan. He had worked as a locomotive
engineer for 44 years in places like Arkansas
City, Slaton, Los Angeles and Gallup, NM.
Wallace retired in 1986.
Wallace married Wilma Jean DeBusk
on Nov.
6, 1948 in Slaton.
He severed in the US Navy during
WWII and
was a member of Slaton's American
Legion,
VFW, and Masonic Lodge.
Six brothers have preceded him in
death.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma;
sons,
Steve and Stan White both of Lubbock;
daughters,
Scharlett Satterwhite of Biggs,
Okla. and
Debbie Leon of Nevada City, Calif.;
a brother;
J. P. White of Arkansas City, Kan.;
nine
grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
