[NI0593] Was the following the will of Joshua R. Clark's father?

I came across this will while looking for an ancestor (it turns out that Joshua CLARK is not my ancestor, although he may be a relative of some kind). I must say his plans for his slave Lidd were very painful to read.

I have also sent this information to slavedata@aol.com and SLAVEINFO-L@rootsweb.com, in the hope that it may help someone in their research. I encourage anyone else with slave data to submit it to these worthwhile groups.

Julianne Regina Clark Stephens

On August 13, 2008, Julianne Clark Stephens, 65, of Durham, passed away at the Hospice at the Meadowlands in Hillsborough after a battle with metastasized breast cancer. She was born in Oklahoma City on July 31, 1943, the eldest child of Louis Watts Clark and Lillian Marguerite (King) Clark. Julie graduated from high school in Cullowhee, NC, and attended St. Bonaventure University near Olean, NY, for a short time before her marriage in December 1961. She later enrolled at the University of North Carolina where she received a Bachelor with Honors in Psychology, minor in Philosophy in 1971. Continuing her education at Duke University, she received a Master in Psychology, minor in Education, in 1975. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

During her career, she worked for many years in the field of clinical psychology. Later she ran her own computer database company called Accuserve. Until her most recent hospitalization, she was also an adjunct instructor at Durham Technical Community College. She was an avid swimmer and enjoyed eating out with her friends in the Dine-Out Club.

Julie is survived by her daughter, Donna Manley, and by her mother, Lillian Clark. Her father, Louis Watts Clark, died in Tela, Honduras in October, 2006. She is also survived by her 10 siblings: Ramona Hanrahan, Rosaleen Salvo, Philip Clark, Teresa Dutton, Vincent Clark, Mary Giles, Victor Clark, John Clark, Patrick Clark, and Jenny Brack. Julie will be greatly missed by her long-time friend, Mort Zwick, and by her beloved cat, Joshua.

Julie's wishes were to be cremated. Funeral arrangements are pending.
