OBIT: Phoebe Elliott was born in Logan County, Ohio, February 12th, 1846, and died January 14th, 1929, at the age of 82 years, 11 months and 2 days. She was married to Eli Dethrow April 29th 1866 in the State of Ohio, coming to Oregon County, Missouri in 1868 and locating near Garfield. To this union nine children were born, the oldest child dying in infancy and her husband preceded her to the great beyond in 1909 and her son Wiley preceded her in 1912. She was then married to J.A. McElmurry, near Alton, in 1915 whom survive her with 7 children, 32 grand-children, 25 great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Sadie Ford of Grand Rapids, Mich. She was converted about 45 years ago and joined the Methodist church remaining firm in her faith until her death. She prayed a prayer for her children only a few minutes before she died and said she wanted them all to meet her in heaven. It was hard to part with dear mother. But the Lord's blest will be done. And the thought that gives most comfort, We will meet in heaven's Home...A Daughter. South Missouri Democrat [SMD]
