From the diary of Geneive (Fife) Jones, in email from Carolyn (Jones) Dagg:
Mrs. Raymond Fife Dies at hospital -July 9, 1931
Following an illness of two weeks of typhoid fever, Mrs Margaret Fife, aged 26, wife of Raymond Fife, of Third Street, Houston, died at the Canonsburg hospital Thursday night at 8 o'clock. The body was taken to the funeral home of Hopper & Hinton where it was prepared for burial and later was removed to the home of C. E. Fife, 242 Smithfield Street. Where funeral services will be held this evening at 8 o'clock in charge of Rev. T.M.Dunkle, pastor of the First Methodist Church; On Saturday, the body will be taken to Uniontown, Pa., where further services will be held in the Asbury M. E. Church, at 2 pm eastern standard time, in charge of Rev. Burr McKnight. Interment will be made in a cemetery near that place . Mrs Fife was born at Uniontown, February 23, 1905, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. John SHOAF, and was married to Raymond Fife of Canonsburg about 14 months ago. She was well respected in the vicinity and took an active part in the affairs of the First M. E. Church, of which she was a member, being affiliated with the Sterling class of the Sunday school and the Young Women's Foreign Missionary Society. She had two brothers, Wilson SHOAF etc.... (note from Carolyn: "that is all of the piece I have.")
Sentence from an email sent June 11, 2005, from Gail Shoaf Beers (GRedhen@aol.com):
"The missing name is my father - Orville Swaney Shoaf."
More info from Gail: "The rest of the story--as I heard it was that her husband went to look at a moving business that he was thinking of buying. They stopped to let her get a drink from a well and she came down with tyhoid fever."
