HICKMAN Reunion July 17, 1893 McDonald PA Outlook

Thursday of this week was a reunion of the descendants of Peter HICKMAN, one of the pioneers of Allegheny County, in South Fayette township, near Bridgeville. Mrs. Ann JORDAN, at whose residence this triennial reunion was held, and Mrs. Elizabeth ESPY, of Upper St. Clair, mother of Mrs. J. D. SAUTERS, who with her husband was present, are the only surviving children, and both are far advanced in years. To the regret of all Mrs. ESPY was not able to be present on account of the infirmities of age. The HICKMAN are not a migratory race, and the great majority of them have married and settled not far from the ancestral home. There were, however, several representatives of the family from Ohio. The number present was about 175, a considerable part being bright and active children.

The ladies of this family are noted for good cooking, and the dinner served gave abundant evidence of their skill and of the resources of that neighborhood. Addresses were made by several of the gentlemen. The Bridgeville brass band furnished the music. The weather was fine and the day was one of great interest and complete satisfaction to all.
