Martha Milligan
Little is known of Martha Milligan. There are no known surviving pictures. She was born in 1841 in Lennox & Addington County, Ontario, Canada, the oldest child of William and Isabelle. She worked as a domestic for most of her life. In 1876-77 in the Rochester Directory she is listed as a domestic at 72 Monroe Ave. In 1877-78 she boards at Lake Ave oppositve Ridge Road. In the 1880 US Census she is listed as a servant for Joseph H. Pool. In 1881 she boards at 126 Oak Street and in 1888 she boards at 7 Ravine Ave. In the 1900 US Census she is listed as a domestic in the town of York in Livingston County.
In 1920, shortly before her death, she was listed as a domestic for a private family and she lived with her youngest brother Frank. She died on March 20, 1920 and is buried in Riverside Cemetery, Rochester, NY. She was the third of William and Isabelle's children to die in Rochester, after brothers Nathan (1883) and Ephraim (1901). She did not appear to have much money as her sister, Nettie, bought the plot in which she was buried.
