1 Marlin G. Weston died on January 1, 2007 at USA at age 45; PORCUPINE - Marlin G. "Moon" Weston, 45 - "Tasunke Itanpi" - began his journey to the spirit world on January 1, 2007. Marlin "Moon" was born November 12, 1961, one of six children to Spencer and Eldean (Iron Cloud) Weston at Porcupine. Moon attended elementary school at Our Lady of Lourdes School in Porcupine. He graduated in 1979 from Red Cloud High School, where he received the "Brother Pat Award," the highest award granted Red Cloud graduates. Moon attended Black Hills State University and later graduated from Oglala Lakota College in 1994. In 1982, "Moon" met the love of his life, Evelyn Lone Hill, and they were married on January 6, 1984. From this union a son Marlon "Chance" Weston was born and they were also recently blessed with a daughter, Jazzlyn Dream Weston. Moon's life as a cowboy and rancher took a turn when he was involved in a car accident in 1984, leaving him a c-5 quadriplegic. He was a daily inspiration to family, relatives and all those who knew him as he met life's obstacles with courage and dignity. As Moon's awareness grew for those with disabilities, so did his interest in advocacy, politics and business, as he maintained a love of breeding the best paint quarter horses. The love of his family and his true dedication to make life better for the Oyate on the reservation were what kept him strong.
