William Gardinear circa 1826. She married William Gardiner so her tribe disowned. William Gardiner named her Louise after his mother. They had two children. He built a small log house for her and her two children. Louise missed her association with her tribe. One day when she heard voices, she went out and found that some of her old friends had come to the nearby stream. She ran to greet them, only to be scorned. The women saw that she was with child, one pointed to the little twigs along the bank and said, "Your children will be like those twigs, they will never know their grandfathers."
