My maternal grandma was Thelma Lucille Mikesell Klotz. Grandma's brother was named George Mikesell. Her father's name was Harry J Mikesell (Henry), married to Ella R Dowler. Harry's father's name was Riley Mikesell, married to Elizabeth Ann Caffey. |

My GG Grandmother was, Nancy E Mikesell. Nancy was born 1838 in Indiana. Nancy died in 1907 in Indiana and is buried in Niccum Cemetery. Her father was Henry Mikesell born in Ohio.
Nancy married James P Williams on May 14, 1857 in Montgomery County , Indiana. Henry Mikesell signed the marriage cert. Do you have any other information on this line of Miksell's? |

I've posted here before, but since then have more info. My g-g-g-grandmother was Sarah Mikesell who married Eli Stanfield in 1842 in St Joseph, IN. I now strongly suspect that she is a daughter of Peter Mikesell and Mary Troup. Members of this family were in the same places as Sarah, and when some members moved to Iowa in 1854, so did Sarah and Eli.

I descend from Jacob Mixell and his wife Rebecca Wicklein who lived in Newton Twp.,Cumberland Co.,PA. Several of our family have tried for years to find where Jacob may fit in to other Mixell/Meixell families. Jacob was born in 1793,according to the U.S. Census. He died Nov.19,1870 In Newton Twp.,near Newville ,PA. His death is recorded in the records of the Green Spring Cuurch of God. His burial was in the same cemetery but there is no stone.
Not a stone's throw away from Jacob's house, a JOhn Mixell was living. His wife was Nancy Agnes Wicklein. Nancy was not a sister of Rebecca but was definitely of the same family.These two families lived close,attended the same church,buried in the same cemetery and were related through the wives. However, there seems to be no connection between John and Jacob Mixell. I'm sure there had to be but we have never been able to link the two.
As you said, there have been many spellings of the Cumberland Co. branch. There were Maxwells living in the same area during the 1860 census. According to the census taker, they were all Mixwell. A Maxwell genealogist and I worked on that one for a while and concluded that these never were the same family. I have record of some of the descendants of Jacob and Rebecca Mixell.(There are hundreds !)THis is just my line. We have done a lot on the John Mixell descendants also. You may have some of this material submitted by the Iowa branch of that family. Several of them have been in touch with me for years. If you have a "lost" Jacob somewhere in Pa. who fits this description, I would be eternally grateful for any lead. Thanks for your time. Fred L. Shriner, Carlisle, PA. |

Goods great-lots of work? I have more information on the George W. and Acineth Knee line. I wasn't aware that George W. Mikesell 1845-1826 had another wife, Elizabeth Davis. Without looking it up I'm sure the 1880 US Census for Kansas shows Acineth Knee as his current wife, the census was taken in June and she delivered William Wesley on July 7, 1880. Lee Mikesell |
