Caron is the 1,809th most popular surname in the US; percentile is 0.007% Links
My particular branch of Caron's originates with Claude Caron, born 1615 in St.Jean, Aubrigoux, Le Puy, Clermont, France. It seems 2 Caron's made their way to Canada one was Robert and the other was Claude. This site focusses on Claude.

Claude had a son also named Claude who was born in 1641 in St.Jean, Aubrigoux, Le Puy, Clermont, France. . According to Census of 1666, Claude was employed as a servant to the Jesuits at age 24. Claude married Madeleine Varrennes in 1671 St.Jean, Aubrigoux, Le Puy, Clermont, France. In September of 1672 he is listed in the La Praiire, Quebec Census. In the Census of 1681, he still lives in LaPrairie and has 9 children. Two of which died at a low age. Claude II is moves this genealogy forward. Claude II's brother Vital Caron seems to have left a long legacy also. Claude dies at age 70 in Montreal and is buried on Sept 8, 1708. Madelleine dies at the advanced age of 90 and is buried in Montreal on March 18, 1727.

Their son for whom this genealogy follows was Claude II. Claude II married Elisabeth Perthius on June 20, 1695 in Montreal. Claude's brother Vital had her sister Marie Perthius 3 years later. Elizabeth had an untimely death. Claude later married Maragaret Jean Boyer in Montreal on Nov 12, 1703.

Claude Caron III was born on July 12, 1714 in Montreal. He married Charlotte Francoise LaChenais on Feb 20, 1742 in Kaskaskia, ILL. On May 7, 1774, Claude was killed by Indians at Mine La Motte. Some time after Claude a second "R" was added to the CARON name. There are many different interpretations on this.

Louis Carron was born abt 1756 in Kaskaskia, ILL to Claude and Charlotte. Louis was given a land grant on the forks of Gabourie about 3 miles north of Ste. Genevieve, MO. Louis was one of the first men to examine Iron Mountain on the St. Francois River. On Nov. 24, 1778, he married Marguerite Valle who was half indian and the illegitimate daughter of Francois Valle. They had 11 children.

To Louis and Marguerite was born a son, Joseph Carron on May 25, 1787 in Ste. Genevieve, MO. Joseph went on to marry Marie Henri Dit LaHaye on Jan 24, 1809 in Ste. Genevieve, MO. Joseph died in 1845 in Ste. Genevieve, MO. They had 11 children.

Joseph Bartholemew Carron was born on Oct 30, 1809 in Ste. Genevieve, MO. He married Melanie Calliott on Jan 19, 1830. Joseph B. Carron died on Oct 18, 1844 in Ste. Genevieve, MO

The daughter of Joseph B. and Melanie was Marie Cornelia Carron born May 2, 1831. She would wed Sigroid Clement  Clem DRURY of Ste. Genevieve. Marie died on Jan 25, 1903 in Ste. Genevieve, MO.

Their son was Jules Drury.
