Liber ES-2; many times providing family data on the defendant and sometimes on
persons not mentioned on the docket. Some of the listings are quite informative
while others, being dismissed, may only have the date and name of plantiff and
defendant. However, the cases brought before the judge consisted of sworn testimony

- 166 - WACHTEL, SMITH, METZGER, MAIN, GLADHILL - 1851
- Estate of Solomon WACHTEL
On 1 Apr 1848, Samuel SMITH, Solomon WACHTEL and Daniel
WACHTEL, entered into an agreement with Walter H. SHEID
to sell a lot for $682.10 to be paid in one year plus
interest. Sheid moved onto the property but only paid a
partial amount; then sold his interest in the two acres
to Daniel GLADHILL who is now in possession of it.
Solomon WACHTEL d/ 13 Jan 1851 intestate, leaving 3 minor children,

..Joshua Daniel WACHTEL
..Jacob Solomon WACHTEL
Administrator was Daniel WACHTEL (Solomon's brother);
guardian was the children's mother, Mrs Catherine WACHTEL.
William METZGAR testified the family lived in Middletown
Valley.
Land - "Call Hill", 6 1/2 acres (part of John HORINE's land).
Part of Solomon's land had to be sold to pay his debts.
Trustee was Daniel MAIN; sale made to Daniel GLADHILL for
$600. Creditors mentioned were Henry WACHTEL, Samuel SMITH,
and Samuel TOMS. Finalized 23 Sep 1853.
