Look up a SURNAME or
a
PLACENAME
anywhere on my site

is a hobby that could easily take up all my free time. I don't have that luxury but what follows is the information I've been able to gather over the past years.

A quick way to check and see if our lines are connected is to check out my GedHTree file. This is an interactive family tree.

The surnames most notable in my family are: BLOODWORTH, BRANDON, DULEY, HINES, LÖWENSTEIN, MEIER, NOON, and OSTBERG. I would appreciate any information you may have about these. You will note that most of these surnames are listed to the left and you can take a quick trip to that page to see if the surname is one we have in common. Some other surnames that are most frequent in my research are: STEPRO, RUSHING, HILLER, RAY, LITTLE, TYGETT and KUYKENDALL.

I might assume that you have come to my site out of casual interest. If you do nothing else, take a look at one of these biographs/biographies: I cannot help feeling a deep sense of the person and their time when I read them. They are by far the most interesting pages on this site.

My wife's family are German Jews who lost many relatives in the Holocaust. It is my intention with this research to help my children and others appreciate the real and human cost of this horrific period of history. We must also remember that it was not a unique event and that hate and descrimination have existed throughout time even to today.  My wife's paternal grandparents (MEIER) escaped but her maternal grandparents (LÖWENSTEIN) barely succeeded in saving only their children with the KINDERTRANSPORT.

Curiously, the German families have been the sources of the greatest amount and most interesting information. On the contrary, my own surname and direct ancestors have proven most difficult to document.

Genealogy has led me to discovery in other areas of life: history, food, culture, story-telling...I am repeatedly struck by the interesting coincidences of life. I find my research leads me back to places, times and interests that I or  other relatives have.

I truly believe we cannot appreciate or understand where we are going without knowing whence we came. So, please join me in this interesting journey and if there is anything I can share to help you, don't hesitate to ask. Likewise, I hope you'll share with me as so many already have.

The WEB has been a priceless source of information for me. These pages are my effort to expand and use this great source of information....
