Nov 1827 Court McBEE & RINEHEART vs. Robert LEWIS and State vs. Robert LEWIS, lawsuits involving debt.  Robert acknowleges owing Charles LEWIS $50 for bail.  Robert was eventually found guilty by a jury, fined $5, and ordered held until the fine is paid.   [source: Minutes of the County Court of Carter County Vol. 4 1826-1829]
13 May 1828 Court Reuben B. HARRISON vs. George OLIVER, apparently a lawsuit involving debt.  George states that "Peter LEWIS owes me twenty pounds iron James LEWIS owes me ten pounds iron".   [source: Minutes of the County Court of Carter County Vol. 4 1826-1829]
ca Aug 1828 Court Ephraim LEWIS serves on a couple juries.   [source: Minutes of the County Court of Carter County Vol. 4 1826-1829]
Nov 1828 Court John NAVE & Christian CARRIGER vs. Charles LEWIS, Peter LEWIS, & Howel LEWIS, nature of lawsuit not given.  The case seems to have been referred to an arbiter and then ordered to stand trial.  The lawsuit was finally dismissed by the plaintiffs.  Allen ROYSTON was a witness in the suit.   [source: Minutes of the County Court of Carter County Vol. 4 1826-1829]

Land		 Elizabeth LEWIS makes claim in Washington County, TN for bounty land under the Act of 3 Mar 1855.  She states that she is "23+" years old, a resident of Sullivan County, TN, and that on 3 Mar 1855 she was the only minor child of Ephraim LEWIS, deceased, the next oldest child (not named) being born 2 years earlier.  She estimates her date of birth as 31 Dec 1834.  She states that Ephraim's widow, Elizabeth, later married Valentine LITTLE.  Martin LITTLE and Elizabeth (X) LITTLE give oath to Elizabeth's claims.   [source: Ephraim Lewis' Pension File]
19 Apr 1858 Pens. A letter by A.G. GRAHAM of Jonesboro, TN inquires whether "Mrs. Lewis or Little", widow of Ephraim LEWIS, is entitled to a pension.  The letter states that she married a Mr. LITTLE in 1849, but that he deserted her in 1855 and that they are now divorced.  [note - Valentine LITTLE and Elizabeth LEWIS were probably married in 1850 or afterwards since they appear separately on the 1850 census.]   [source: Ephraim Lewis' Pension File]
