FROM MY MOTHER
GRACE LEAH HAZELTON
OLIN

IN
"LOVING MEMORY"
OF
GRACE LEAH HAZELTON
OLIN

Born: April 22, 1913
Died: February 13, 1945

My dearest mother how I have missed you through the years. How wonderful it would have been to have had you here to ask your advice and to know that you would always understand and love me. What wonderful words of praise I have heard about you from everyone that knew you. Of your compassion and especially your wonderful humor even through the tragedies that came into your life. I knew how hard it was when you lost Kathleen when I lost my daughter Melanie, how I wish you would have been here, you would have understood and been such a comfort.

Even though you were very active in your church activities being President of the Christ Ambassadors you never let that interfere with the family and putting us first. Even in the last two months of your life, your concern was for your family not for yourself, always thinking of others first.

Reverend Davidson said that he was there that early morning that you departed this world and that you left praising the lord even though you were leaving behind a devoted husband and two small children who needed you so much. He said that your death has been used in many of his sermons to reach people who might never have realized that death is the beginning of something more wonderful.

I know that Kate Smith was one of your favorite vocal artists and one of the songs she sang was "I'll Be Seeing You". My mother I see you in so many places each day with memories, but where I see you the most is in my granddaughters and in my daughter Melanie that I know is in heaven with you. Some of my grandchildren definitely resemble you and some have the middle name of Grace. I am very thankful that you gave me that middle name. In fact, your memory has been carried on now with the name of Grace for three generations, me, my daughter and two of my granddaughters. As your headstone says "Gone, But Not Forgotten" and you certainly have not been forgotten.

I thank God that he blessed me with the most wonderful mother in all of the world even though I only had you for such a short time.  Most of all I want you to know how much I love you and how proud I am to know that you are “My Mother”.
