OF
MY AUNT
IRENE MAE HAZELTON
BURNSIDE

"IN LOVING MEMORY"
Born: April 18, 1915
Died: July 17, 2000

My dear aunt Irene how much I enjoyed your wonderful sense of humor, especially your laughter.  The stories you told about you and my mother Grace was so very delightful to hear about.
Especially the one about auntie calling grandma Meta and asking her to send the girls over to her house. You said you and my mother went and auntie promised you fifty cents each to crawl under her house to get out a dead cat. You said there was no way you were going to; but that my mother crawled under there and got the cat out. You had so many interesting stories about grandpa Charles and your siblings. You talked about the telephone conversations with aunt Lou and how much you enjoyed them; especially since they were mainly about the favorite sport of both of yours, "Baseball and the San Diego Padres".

I loved hearing about how you and uncle Bernard had met. I had no idea he had worked for Joe Bridges, the wonderful man who went to First Assembly of God who owned his own painting business. How often we forget to ask our parents or relatives how they met each other and it was so interesting to hear you tell of your meeting with uncle Bernard.

You would have been so proud of your daughter-in-laws Carol and Laura; of the wonderful things that they had to say about you at your memorial service. It was very evident how much they loved you and were so close to you. Carol said you were her best friend, one she had talked to every day of her married life with your son Ken.  But even more was the wonderful and humorous things that were said by your son Ken's daughter Debbie. It was very evident from all that was said of how much they loved and adored you and the vacancy left in their lifes by your departure.

On the day that you departed from our family it was so wonderful that your son Ken, his wife Carol and their daughter Leslie were there by your bedside. Aunt Irene you were loved so much by this family of ours and will be greatly missed; but you have left your cherished memories behind for us to remember. You will always and forever remain in our hearts.
