MY TRIBUTE

"IN LOVING MEMORY"
OF MY UNCLE
ARTHUR GRANT HAZELTON, SR.
Born: May 30, 1923
Died: October 25, 1985
and
MY AUNT
MARIE CORINE FISHER HAZELTON
Born: January 10, 1926
Died: July 10, 1994

My dear uncle Grant I know how much you loved your wife Marie, aunt Lois said when you were separated from her when you first married that you played the song "Marie" all the time. What a wonderful couple you made.

Uncle Grant what a wonderful heritage you and aunt Marie left our family. Three wonderful children that I absolutely adore, two grandchildren and now a beautiful great grandson and granddaughter. How I wish you both were here to see this addition to the family you would be so proud. This is a part of you that was left to us, the family, a living reminder of our uncle Grant and aunt Marie.

I remember the times that I would go over to your home, Uncle Grant, while you were at work. Aunt Marie always took the time, even when she was busy, to visit with me. I remember the dollhouse you built for me that I enjoyed for so many years. And all of the times when you would come to grandmother Meta's house and bring your oldest daughter, you were so proud of your children.

I think your courage Uncle Grant was best shown in the newspaper article that read:  "While on a reconnaissance expedition you volunteered as a member of a boat detail to land troops at a point in enemy possession which had repulsed with heavy fire a previous attempt to put men ashore. You later coolly returned enemy fire in the face of bombing and strafing attack. Your seamanship enabled you to return a landing craft through a treacherous channel and heavy seas to a skillful stop alongside your ship. Your performance of duty was a credit to the U. S. Navy. You were also a great credit to our family as was your wife Marie.

You both have departed from our family to join the others that have gone on before you. But there will always be a special place in the hearts of all of our family for both of you.
