MY
TRIBUTE
TO MY GREAT UNCLE
THEOBALD ELLSAESSER

"IN LOVING MEMORY"
Born:  October 8, 1852
Died:  July 1, 1926

My dear great uncle Theobald I have so little information of your life. I know you must have been very close to my great grandfather, your brother, Charles Theodore Ellsaesser as the two of you were the last of eleven children born to John and Emerenzia Beiter Ellsaesser. Leaving your native country of Germany to come to America must have been very challenging for you and all of the family.

My grandmother Emeline E. Ellsaesser Olin said so many things about you in her life story. It was apparent from these stories that she was very fond of you. I would imagine this was because you lived with her and her family prior to your marriage. My grandmother tells how you took great delight in teaching her the alphabet and how you are the one who bought red yarn for her so her teacher could show her how to crochet. If it was not for your kindness and generosity to her I would not have the beautiful dollies she crocheted and left to me. These dollies are something that have mean't so much to me over the years as they are the only thing I have of hers, other than family pictures, so they are priceless to me.

You were so wonderful to my grandmother and her siblings, I know that you must have been a very wonderful father to the seven children born to you and your wife Mary Steffen Ellsaesser.

I hope someday I may hear from some of your descendants and learn more about you, your wife and children. But if I do not get that opportunity here I know that the day will come when I will get to meet and know you along with all of the Ellsaesser Family around the Throne of our Heavenly Father.
