My beloved great grandfather I was never privileged to know you. My grandmother Emeline, your daughter, has told about you in her life story. Because of this I feel as I know you and I am very grateful for that wonderful daughter of yours that was my grandmother.
I would like to say what I think my grandmother would say if she
were here today. She never had the opportunity that I have of making a tribute to you that so many of the family would be able to read about.
I think my grandmother would say to you, dear great grandfather,
that she admired you greatly. That you worked hard to make a home for the family. The greatest tribute I think she would give you was of your faith. She would reminisce about the Sunday morning worship service that you would conduct and her standing beside you on a chair holding a corner of the Hymn Book. Not only did you provide for your family materially, but you also gave them the spiritual guidance they needed.
My dear great grandmother, I know that our grandmother would have
expressed how much she would have wanted to have you longer here on
earth. I know that is what I had wished for my mother, she departed when she was very young as you did. Like me this denied my grandmother, her brothers and sister the love that only a mother can give. The memories she did have of you she cherished deeply. She wrote of how you were a spiritual woman and had taught her how to pray. She also remembered all of the songs about Jesus that you had taught her. Because of this training she always had a deep abiding faith in her Heavenly Father.
My grandmother Emeline departed a long time ago but she left us with
memories of her that we cherish and also her memories of both of you. I am holding on to all of these memories so I can pass them on to all of your future descendents.

And now faith, hope, love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is:
