                       Wilson Harer
born July 22, 1820 in Kentucky. He married Nancy Taylor in 1846 in Arkansas. They lived in Johnson County on White Water near the
Arkansas River. He was a Methodist Circuit Rider Preacher and baptized in the Arkansas river His older children were born in Arkansas and later he moved into Kansas preaching wherever he went. In 1863 he moved to Ventura California farming and riding circuit ministering mostly to the Indians. 
In 1872 a half breed Mexican and Indian came to Wilson's home,  Nancy was alone with the three children, Eva, Grant and William, Stephen was in  school and Sarah, Martha, Susie and Josephine all married and had their own homes. The Mexican lassoed Nancy and dragged her through the corn field. Wilson was returning home from a circuit and heard the children screaming hurried home thinking the house was on fire. Eva could only mutter mother Mexican come. He gave up his circuit and took care of Nancy.  Nancy died as a result of injuries five years later, one year from her death he moved from the place of so many memories.

Brooks lived in Hannibal, New York at the time of his death.  He was the President of Ypsilanti Lumber Company about 1887.
His wife was the former Kate Scharff of Ypsilanti.
Funeral at Catholic Church. 
Brooks is buried by his second wife, Katie, in a Catholic cemetery in Ypsilanti, Michigan in the Schaff & Brooks lot.

Yipsilanti, Washtenaw, Michigan
She died at home at 11:15 p.m.
Aged 84 years, 7 days.
She had black hair and eyes; was a graduate of Olivet College (est.1844) and a Genealogist.  She was honored by who's who in Genealogy in 1932.
Belonged to DAR, Society of Mayflower Descendants & Kings Daughters.
