MY TRIBUTE
IN
"LOVING MEMORY"
OF
REXFORD DAVIDSON

Born: About 1925
Died: Novembember 28, 1945
In World War II

I wanted to do this tribute to Rex Davidson, if he had not departed from this life to be with his Heavenly Father, he would have been my uncle. He also was the best friend of my uncle Earle Hazelton and my cousin, Earle's son was named in memory of Rex Davidson. The Davidson Family was so much a part of the Hazelton Family. Brother N. D. Davidson was not only the minister of the church our family attended but was a very close friend. He was with my family when my mother departed from this life. He dedicated me to God when I was six months old. Rex's brothers Dave, Wayne, Guy, Clark and John Mark were very close friends with my uncles, aunts, cousin and my brother and me and will always be remembered with the very fondest of memories. To you, the Davidson Family, I would like to thank you for all you have mean't to our family and for this wonderful son and brother Rexford David Davidson.

REXFORD DAVID DAVIDSON
Dear Rex how I wish I could have known you, unfortunately the only memory I have is attending your memorial service in December of 1945 and the military gun salute that was given at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery where you were laid to rest.

I have seen your wonderful pictures with your endearing smile and have heard so many things from family members and friends. They all have such wonderful things to say about your wonderful sense of humor, your laughter and how loving and kind you were. Everyone says you were truly a very remarkable person.

The greatest tribute about you was related to me by your brother. He told me that you had such a dedication and love for God and your parents. He has said that you had written a letter to your parents asking their advice on whether you should reenlist in the Army. You were one of the wonderful men fighting in World War II for the freedom that this great country enjoys because of men like you who were willing to give their lives for this freedom. Your brother says you stayed overseas, even though the war had ended, waiting to receive your parents advice out of your great respect for them. Unfortunately your parents did not receive your letter until after your death and while you were waiting for that answer, because of your respect and obedience to them and their advice, you received that fatal shot that took you home to be with your Heavenly Father.

Rex, you obviously had a great love for this country, America The Beautiful, but an even greater love for your parents and your brothers. But I know your greatest love was for your "Heavenly Father". When you entered the Gates of Heaven, I am sure your Heavenly Father said to you:  "Welcome Home, my soldier, my child, I have been waiting for you!" You and your "Heavenly Father" were there to welcome your parents and all of my family that you loved so much and I know you are waiting to welcome your brothers and the rest of us who are waiting for the day when we will be able to see and spend eternity with you.

So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then sahll be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
I Corinthians 15:54 & 55
