R. Jones is listed on the Bell County Confederate Service Muster Rolls
as a Private in Capt. Milton Damron's Company, 27th Texas Brigade in
August
1861. In 1871 James R. Jones transferred 150 acres of land he received
in 1854, on the waters of North Nolan Creek, in Bell County to Margaret
A. Jones. Children from the U.S. Census 1850-1860 Burleson/Brazos

1870 Bell County and 1880 Hamilton County, Texas are: Sarah, Celia,
James,
Allen, Wise Solomon, Narcissa, Andrew, Margaret, Wiley, Emma, George
and
Penny, all born in Texas. Wise Solomon Jones (1858TX-1885TX) married
Mary
Melinda Coward, daughter of James and Eliza Bervilla Mitchell Coward,
on
December 24, 1877 in Bell County. Mary Melinda (1860AL-1912TX) is
buried
in Falls County, Texas. Widowed, Mary married a Mr. Tom Barry.
Wise
Solomon and Mary Melinda Coward Jones had at least four children:
Cordia Alto, Eliza Ann, Joe Allen, and Charly. Cordia Alto Jones
(1879TX-1964TX) married J.D. Walls; Eliza Ann Jones
