Herbert Wells was b. in Minto, 1874. He is a son of the late John Wells, of Minto, and was b. in that township opposite his present home. His parents came to Minto when it was an unbroken forest, following "blazed" paths to get to their land, and were obliged to carry provisions from Elora. The late John Wells was b. and raised in King Tp., York Co. , and m. Jane Prescott.

Herbert Wells owns 103 acres, lot 21, con. 12. He makes a specialty of thoroughbred stock, of which he is an extensive breeder, and in which he had been very successful. He is a Methodist and a Conservative. In 1897 he m. Mary Logan, of Wentworth County. Issue: Ruby E. , Blanche M., Wilmor D., and Viola M.
