James Hough James Hough was born in 1805 England

July 17, 1836 he started, along with James H. Stannard, the Norfolk Street Methodist Sunday School and was Sunday School Sup't 1836-40 and again in 1862-63,

1842 School Trustee,

1849 on the Board of Health, brother-in-law of Rev. Samuel Fear

1846-47 Wellington District Benevolent Association Member

Teacher Operated a common school out of his home in 1852 and it was one of the three schools in Guelph, has sixty scholars and is helped by his wife,

1852 to 1856 was the Town Clerk, September 18, 1856 as Town Clerk he read the list of articles placed in the cornerstone for the new Market House-Town Hall,

1869 Mar 15 resigns as Town Clerk,

1873 Sect'y/Treas Guelph Union Cemetery Board,

1873 President Bible Society and Member of Norfolk Methodist Church,

July 1874 laid the cornerstone for Dublin Street Methodist Church,

1886 President of Guelph Branch Bible Society
