First.... a partial map
of Saline County, MO, showing
the township of Miami and
some surrounding towns
that are frequently mentioned
in the diaries of W. S. Myers

Below is a photo of the Baptist Church. The inscription on the photo was "some Miami weather." The photo was not dated.
At left is a photo of Newton McKendree Myers (1856-1945), older brother of W. S. Myers. He was married to Mattie Saufley, of Miami, and they lived in Marshall, MO.

Picured at left is "Mr. Sterrett, of Staunton, VA, the man Wilbert Sterrett Myers was named after.

This is Amos Alexander Wheeler as a young man (1842-1917). He was the father of Emma Wheeler Myers.

Far right is a photo of Addie Belle Myers, sister of Wilbert S. Myers. She was born in 1861 and died in 1877, of consumption, at the age of 15. She is buried in Miami Cemetery.

Elizabeth Hardesty Vaughan. She was the wife of David Vaughan and the maternal grandmother of Emma Wheeler.
Clarence Haynie, employee of Myers Bros. in
Miami.
At left is a photo of Amos Alexander Wheeler and his first wife, Alice Shryock Vaughan (1848-1891). Together they had eight children.
This is Louisa Huyett Wheeler, second wife of Dr. A. A. Wheeler. She was always called "Miss Lou"in the diaries. Together they had one child, Angelica (Angie). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I found this photo, at left, in one of W. W. Myers' scrapbooks, proving there was football in 1901! No one was identified.

This is a photo of Miami Cemetery looking down the hill to Highway 41.
This is a look at the old business district of Miami as it appeared in 1997.
This is the old building that you see down the road in the above picture. It may have been the old bank building, and appeared to be the only brick building of a former era that was still standing.
This is the Methodist Church, Miami, Missouri, 1997.
This is the Miami Post Office in 1997. ZIP Code: 65344.
This is a photo of Wilbert S. Myers and his brother, Lyttleton Emery Myers. The photo was taken in Glendale, CA, in the 1930's.
Pictured, left, are two of Lyt and Sunnie (Smith) Myers' children, Hazel and Wallace. They had six children: Mattie Marguerite, Harold James, Lina E., Hazel, Wallace, and Lyttleton, Jr.
This is a photo of Hazel Myers (1895-1984) and her sister Lina E. Myers (1893-1970)
At right is the new home in Fairville, MO, of Henrietta Virginia (Retta) Myers and husband, Jim Long, in the 1930's.
This is a family picture of James F. Vaughan and wife, Sue Anna Burnsides, Summer 1930. Pictured left to right (standing):Harry Vaughan and wife, Anna; SueAnn and Jim Vaughan; and youngest son, Elmer Vaughan. In front are Herbert Vaughan and daughter, Marilyn. The Vaughan's had three other children, not pictured: Laura Lee, David F. and Ralf L.
At left is a postal to "little" Robert W. Myers. I would guess that "Ella" is Ella Greenabaum, former neighbor in Miami, but I don't know who "Dottye" is.
At left is a photo sent to W. S. Myers by his niece, Hallie Hudson. It pictures the cast of her school play, "The Six Cups of Chocolate." These young ladies lived in Boonville, MO. They are, from left to right: Gertrude Cosgrove, Bertha Johnstone, Jennie Ehle, Alice Walker, Hallie Hudson, and Maidie Elliott.
Not the greatest of photos, but the only one I have showing the flooding of the Missouri River in the Miami area. Photo was undated.
