In the Name of God Amen and so forth I give and bequave to my Wife Frances my lands my negroes my stock and all my household furniture in during hir lifetime and after her decease to be sold and equally divided between my children without exception. This is my last Will and Testament December ye 30th 1760. Signed Francis Browning Juner

At Court held for County of Culpeper on Thursday the 19th day of February 1761. This last Will and Testament of Francis Browning Junr. dec'd was exhibited into Court by Frances Browning his Widow and relict and was proved by the oaths of . . Witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded and no Executor being appointed therein on the motion of the said Frances Administration with the Will annexed is granted her she having taken the Oath of an Administrator and given Bond and security according to Law.

Deed Abstracts of Culpeper County, Virginia, Bk. 3&4, pg.100 (1775-1779), FHL 975.5392 R2s. This indenture made this 15th Sep. 1777 between Charles Browning Heir at Law, and Francis Browning admr. with the Will annexed of Francis Browning deceased of one part and William Browning of Culpeper County of other part Whereas said Francis Browning in his life time among other things became possessed of land whereon the said Francis Browning and William Browning now lives containing Three hundred twenty four acres Whereof said William Browning became the purchaser . . . Wheras the said Francis Browning did by his Last Will in writeing recorded in the records of the said County Court, direct that all his Estate real and person should be sold by his Exrs. at the Death of said Frances his Widow and the money ariseing therefrom to be divided among all her children and whereas the said Frances and her children the heirs of said Francis Browning deceased did commence a suit in the said Court whereby it was by consent of the Parties decreed and ordered that all the Estate of Francis Browning deceased should be sold by the said Charles Browning as Heir at Law and the said Frances Browning as Admx. under the Will and convey the same to the Purchasers . . . William Browning . . . Now this indenture Witnesseth that said Charles Browning and Frances Browning for sum of Seventy five pounds current money of Virginia have sold unto the said William Browning the tract of one hundred fifty six acres of land . . .
