Death of a Truly Noble Woman: Demise in Denver of Mrs. Margaret Johnson Meek, formerly of Bonaparte. A telegram was received Thursday last announcing the death of Mrs. Margaret Johnson Meek, wife of Wm. Meek of Denver, Col. Mrs. Meek was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Johnson of Banaparte, and was born at Bonaparte Oct 24, 1853, being 58 years, one month and 21 days old. She spent her childhood and younger womanhood days at Bonaparte and in 1874 was united in marriage to William Meek, son of Robert Meek, senior member of the firm of Meek Bros., owners of the woolen mills. About 1887 they removed to Denver, where she had since resided. Mrs. Meek was the mother of four children, who with the husband survive her. She is also survived by two sisters and two brothers - Mrs. Geo. F. Smith of Keosauqua and Mrs. Geo. T. Ward of Chicago and J. A. Johnson of Bonaparte and Geo B. Johnson of Ft. Worth, Texas. . . . .

     BIRTH-DEATH: Van Buren County, Iowa Obituaries maintained by Rich Lowe on line at: http://iagenweb.org/boards/vanburen/obituaries/index.cgi Joseph Sanders 1825-1903, An Early Settler. Joseph Sanders was born in Belmont county, Ohio, Oct 2, 1825 and died in Bonaparte, Iowa, Jan. 17, 1903, aged 77 years, 3 months and 45 days. He came to Iowa in 1849 and was married to Elizabeth Meek April 5, 1854. Eight children were born to them, five of whom are left to mourn, viz. Mrs. Sage of Hay Spring, Neb., Mrs Cox of Farmington , Iowa, Wm Sanders of Memphis, Mo., Enoch Sanders of Haywards, California, and Robert Sanders of Bonaparte.
