Died Tuesday June 19, 1900, daughter of Robert and Mary Ann Meek, was born in Bonaparte, Ia., Jul 6, 1839. She was married to Joseph Saunders, Apr 8, 1854. To this union eight children were born, five sons and three daughters. One daughter and two sons have departed this life. She has lived in this vicinity all her life and has gathered about her many firends, who, with her husband, three sons, two daughters, one sister and five brothers lament her sudden departure. . . .

Died at her home in Milton, Iowa, Sept. 22, 1892, Mrs. Sarah Jane Leach, aged 51 years, 9 months and 29 days. Deceased was a daughter of Robert and Mary Ann Meek, and was born in Bonaparte, Iowa, November 23, 1840. Here she grew to womanhood and was married to Joseph F. Leach, February 11, 1858. To them were born eight children, 5 sons and three daughters, two sons and one daughter died in infancy. . . . The funeral took place from the residence, September 24, 1892, Rev. Fillmer of the M.E. Church, conducting . . .

     BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: 1878 History of Van Buren County, Iowa. Meek, Ralph F., proprietor livery stable, Bonaparte; son of Robert and Nancy (Flint) Meek. Born Aug 11, 1851, in Bonaparte. Was educated in the public schools of his native town and served as clerk and book-keeper in the office of Meek Brothers for several years. Commenced his present business in the spring of 1878. Married Miss Gertrude E. Christy, daughter of Thomas Christy. She was born Nov 26, 1854, in Keosauqua; have two children - Carl E. and Harry C. Democrat.
